Once there was a ride ~
Swallowed by the tide;
Would childhood memories disappear?
Memories of fun ~
Laughter in the sun.
Replacing my joy with future tears?
~dcrelief
Memories are etched in my mind, free to relive any time I like. Then again, I wondered: "what happened later, long after my visit? Did this place remain the same? Does this 'now time' still reflect the goodness I took into my mind?" (Sigh)
Have you ever had a similar experience?

Workers on lunch break watch the removal of the Jet Star roller coaster May 14, 2013. The structure has been in the ocean for six months after the pier it was on collapsed during Superstorm Sandy in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The Casino Pier has contracted Weeks Marine to remove the Jet Star roller coaster from the Atlantic Ocean.
Sometimes I wonder what went on after I skedaddled out of there. Never knew a rollercoaster went into the ocean haha
ReplyDeleteReally - you were there then? I think it's wild looking. Why not have a ride that travels over water?
DeleteI remember when that happened.
ReplyDeletePlaces do change and sometimes they fall apart. I've only revisited a couple places from my childhood (I lived all over) and they weren't the same.
A friend of mine had to have her house rebuilt. Lots of damage there.
DeleteMemories only truly live in our heart. Lots of my childhood places are gone with the wind now or so dilapidated that it's just sad to see them.
ReplyDelete>>..."Memories only truly live in our heart."
DeleteWell said, Debra!
It reminds me of the last scene in the original "Planet of the Apes" where a small part of the Statue of Liberty is exposed above the sand.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I remember that scene - it flipped me out.
DeleteEvery year when storms head toward the Outer Banks I worry. It's my happy place filled with so many memories.
ReplyDeleteMe too - I love the Outer Banks!!!
DeleteOnly time I visited a place from my childhood I didn't recognise any of it. Odd seeing a roller coaster in the water.
ReplyDeleteI know - strange photo.
DeleteHi Dixie! It's so nice to stop in and visit your blog!
ReplyDeleteMemories of our hometown landmarks and the places we went to are so special to one's family history.
I hope to be able to pick up my blogging again!
So nice to visit here!
