An outside job ~ on the inside

You might be wondering, where is dcrelief? No Saturday post? No Sunday post? What is she up to now?

In my spare time I'm an artist. [Spare time, what's that, right?] I paint in acrylics, mostly canvas, but I do make exceptions.

Currently I have a client who brought me a plaque with carved birds. She wants them painted to look like the ones pictured above.

So I'm outside of my 'blogworld', but still inside of my studio, painting away! I'll do my best to visit everyone by this evening. Now for a cuppa coffee...

  9. It looks like you have an beautiful subject to capture on canvas. I hope you'll share with the rest of us your painting when it's done. I really envy folks like you who are artistically inclined with a brush or pencil. I wish I could draw or paint. I think this is why I love photography, photo-editing, rubber-stamping, & writing so much as these are my creative expressions and contributions. Isn't it funny, we all want what we don't have? But, we all can't be or have the same things and knowing this I am happy where I am. Enjoy your painting. We'll be here when you can get to us! ;)

    1. It's not on canvas. It's a plaque she bought. It's even harder than I first thought it would be. I had to research the birds.... I might as well write a post!!

  13. Didn't know you did that Dixie. Have you ever looked at the paintings by my son in law? His link is on my page. Mike Woodcock. I would love to see what you finish up with.

  16. Hi Dixie,

I know how talented you are. Not only an excellent writer but an darned fine artist. I vividly remember some of the paintings you have posted up way back in the past.

  18. Those are beautiful pictures. I'm hoping to fix up the back portion of my yard as a garden to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. May have to cage the cat when I do though.

    1. If you lived close by I've give you a butterfly bush. I love them. Hang your feeders on poles or in places your cat can't climb up.

    1. It will be when I get further along. Painting the background without touching the birds has been time consuming.
