In my yard stand two Butterfly bushes ~
one white, and one purple.
Soon I will trim them back, from three foot limbs to one foot limbs.
Their rapid growth amazes me. Thousands of tiny buds will appear by the end of March.
Flowers, smaller than the head of a match, will pop open.
A fragrance ~ like no other.
I wait for Butterflies to return ~ and they will.
is butterfly bush a type of bush?
ReplyDeleteThere are also Butterfly trees, so I've heard, but I've never seen one.
DeleteLovely post Dixie, I wrote a poem called "Fragile as a Butterfly" it's in my last book.
ReplyDeleteLoved the picture. Enjoy your day.
Thank, nashvillecats2, you're very kind.
DeleteHave never planted one of these. Very interested now. The purple blooms are gorgeous! Thanks for another nice poem, Dixie. 'Stay the course' _|)
ReplyDeleteSharon, there's a photo of a white one to the right of the article...>
Delete"Stay the course" - need that today.
Careful not to trim the butterflies, that gets messy :P
ReplyDeleteOhhhh....okay :)
DeleteOpen and then no snow, that works for us
ReplyDeleteWorks for me.
DeleteSend a bee.
The picture is beautiful, Dixie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Deanie. One niece has me document the first butterfly and last one every year. A project of her's for some seven years.
DeleteHi Dixie...
ReplyDeleteWe call them Buddleia Bushes.....gorgeous!
Please take a pic when full of Butterflies....
Enjoy your week...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Hi Linda. I've heard them called that too.
DeleteOh my, yes, I'll have to do that. You wouldn't believe how many the two bushes draw!
Hope you're feeling better!!
I live in an apartment, but in 2-3 months I plan to move and create a garden. I'm going to have to plant a Butterfly bush. :)
ReplyDeleteThey love sun, and tend to take care of themselves. Butterflies seem to like the purple bush more than my white one, though I don't know why.
DeleteBest wishes with the coming move (smile).
