The rain will surely go,
are we expecting snow?
Weather channel says ice.
No rain, isn't that nice?
'Tis ice, oh what a shame.
My blanket calls my name.
Let's stay in bed all day.
And skip the blog, hooray!
Oh no, we have blog hops.
You know those things don't stop?
The posting zone won't wait.
You can't reset the date.
Now go to bed and dream.
Of lovely words to stream.
Of things you want to say.
And post them on their day.
"dcrelief ~ Battle of the Bands" will post on Thursday, January 15, 2015. A newly opened blog.
"dcrelief - Celebrate the Small Things" will post here on Friday, January 16, 2015.
"an artful blogger" will remain on it's normal comedic-chaotic schedule.
You know this means no airport visit, right? Teddy? Teddy? zzzzz...zzz
it's rather warm here, about 13*C, which is rather strange for January, but it probably won't last for long.
ReplyDeleteWe've had the wind that cuts through you with rain off and on. But overnight it warmed so we didn't get the ice. I actually fell asleep in front of the fireplace. :))
DeleteAnd it doesn't get draughty in front of the fireplace after the fire dies? I mean I've never seen a fireplace in my life so I wonder how it works when without fire, it is an open chimney, yes?
DeleteFor winter, I have glass safety doors that I close partially or completely that open into the studio.
DeleteIn the summer there's also a metal door inside the chimney, called a damper, I think, that closes it off... seals it tight. But you want to let it cool completely before you touch it - so I only use the glass doors for the winter.
I guess that's clear as mud(smile).
Dixie, I sympathize with the cold. Here in Texas it is unseasonably cold, and the damp rain just cuts through you. I know it's nothing compared to what's going on up north, but it's cold for us thin blooded Texans. I love the first picture. The last one looks like a huge bird flying in the clouds.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I try to get outside as much I can, but this is no fun here. I'm guessing you've had the ongoing grey skies too? This chills you in a way you never feel like you quite get warm. I don't know how people in the north go through it. Could be why I have many neighbors from New York living here now.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the photos. I use the last one as my weekly sign off for the "wrap up" blog post. I love going to the airport and watching planes land and take off. So it was a perfect photo to me.
Stay warm. I can't wait to see what story you go with next, on your site! That last one was really moving.
It's cold here too. Nasty storm last night, rain sleet and nastiness - but it's warm inside. And feels even more so after a bracing walk.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike. I really enjoyed your morning post! Sound like you're having even worse weather than anyone. I just got back from a short walk... but I live on a big hill ~ coming back is a climb! But yes, I do love it, and miss it when I can't get out. See you in the morning!!
DeleteThe ice storm this weekend had me cuddling in my blanket too. I had to laugh at the blog part. Looks like you have a busy rest of the week. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIce storms make me nervous - gave me snow. I was just over your way checking out that list of reads! I'm not the only one busy.
DeleteGlad it gave you a laugh ~ my work here is done!(smile)
It's mid summer here Dixie (meaning lots of rain), so I still have my blanket with me... there's a comfort in such things :)
ReplyDeleteHello Azra. Good to hear from you. Mid summer - a monsoon kind of weather? Stay dry as best you can.
DeleteBlankets are always nice. I take old ones and make kimonos or shoulder shrugs. The more color the better.
Thank you for visiting me today(smile).
That's post enough for me :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll come visit battle of the Bands. You get a vote for every blog you visit.
Deletecool sunset picture. it reminds me of the bluebirds of titan. i hope to run into salo and unk soon.
ReplyDeleteBilly, someone sent me that photo about six years ago. I use to close out my Thursday airport blog post. Haven't been out there since Halloween.
DeleteBlue birds of Titan? wow. Battle of the Bands is Friday. You get one vote for every one of the blogs you visit. You have six days to vote before the battle closes.(smile)
We have snow. This morning we had freezing fog which left the trees looking like glass. Supposed to warm up later though.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet the trees are beautiful. A little sunshine and they'll sparkle like diamonds :))
DeleteI hope you're doing well, and Matt too.
I know - those blog hops do not stop.
ReplyDeleteMy blanket calls my name too, and it's resting across my legs right now.
Very nice poem, as we enter nightfall here. I'll send you some CA sunshine tomorrow.
Thanks, Robyn. I'll gladly pay Tuesday for some sunshine today. (Hu hu hu)
DeleteGood luck with that bad weather Dixie. There is snow and gales all over Scotland and the north of England but it's creeping southwards!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute poem that matches very well with the picture.

Hi Bazza - it's just so dreary and the wind chill.
DeleteI do hope you'll be safe.
Thank you for the kind words!
Hil a Dixie....
ReplyDeleteWell.....you have seen the ice at my cottage......
Home is a bit of snow....deep freeze.....warming this weekend!
Enjoy your day....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Linda, I left your place with my teeth chattering! Took me 15 minutes to warm up. Do be careful of frozen falling limbs and things.
DeleteGlad you could visit me(smile).
Beautiful sunrise photo. The cloud looks like a giant bird.
ReplyDeleteYes it does, Kate.
DeleteMakes a nice ending to the weekly, "Are we going to the airport?" wrap up blog! I love clouds(smile).
