Directed by the world to live for days, times, and seasons.
Am I a citizen of the world without my choosing?
Every month has a holiday or disaster to worship.
Must I participate? Must you?
Of course we must.
It's unacceptable not to do so.
Right?
What rights do I really have now?
Will 2016 be different?
I'll be a citizen.
ReplyDeleteThe alternative is undesirable.
Happy New Year!
Well said, Al!
DeleteThe world is filled with holidays and disaster days, so many so that just mentioning them could fill all the newscasts forever. We don't acknowledge most of them. We only acknowledge the ones that fall within our consciences. If you don't want to participate don't, but realize that you can't stop anyone else from celebrating.
ReplyDeleteThat works for me, Lisa!!
DeleteWhat Al said!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Alex.
Deleteeach year has been a year of tragedy and sorrow in these regions of mine, so we're kinda used to it here. Twould be strange if nothing bad would to happen.
ReplyDeleteOh gee - I feel expired. Wait - I want to feel inspired. Hope life becomes so much better, for you!!
DeleteEither comply or become the outcast weirdo guy or girl lol
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling weird just reading your comment!!
DeleteWhat's wrong with being a citizen of the world?
ReplyDeletePretty good - we could be on Mars.
DeleteGood questions. I hope 2016 brings you the answers.
ReplyDeleteI'll eventually find them on your blog, me thinks.
DeleteI guess I too will be a citizen.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice, and you have the best recipes.
DeleteDixie, interesting poem. In this nation while we still have certain freedoms then I think we should indulge in them. If you want to celebrate your holiday of choice then do it and do it with a full heart. I know one day Christian related holidays will not be accepted. Santa and the Easter bunny will replace Jesus and ALL public religious symbols banned. This is prophecy coming to pass. You can see the change every year a little more than the year before. It would be a grand life if all of mankind could live peacefully amongst one another despite race or religion. May 2016 be a healthy, happy, and prosperous year for you dear friend! Hugs
ReplyDeleteCathy - I can agree - when people start praying for each other, rather than prey on each other - things will change. Does that seem too simplistic or bombastic?
DeleteHi Dixie. Are you asking to be allowed to 'drop out' of the world that surrounds you? I'm not sure I would want to do that. I think that all the grief and sorrow in the world is counter-balanced by the joy within it. I hope 2016 is good to you!
ReplyDeleteCLICK HERE for Bazza’s fabulous Blog ‘To Discover Ice’
Bazza - a perceptive man - love that - love you! Joy is the objective, thank you, (smile).
DeleteLet's hope so!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Fran.
Deleteas a recent retiree, i now consider participation to be optional. 40 years of forced participation is enough.
ReplyDelete2016 will be good. if not, the good luck charm i purchased at the chinese store was a waste of 99 cents.
99 cents - drat! I think I paid a buck, fifty (1.50)... USA made. Can you send me the address of the store??
DeleteGood advice; making yourself happy :) I'm trying!
ReplyDeleteI participate, when I have to, lol. Sometimes more. I'm changing up my own world, making it fit my age and desires of now, not years ago.
Here's to looking up this year.
Have a great weekend Polka Dot.
Hi Donna! I'm late getting on here. Thank you for commenting. I'm doing what I can as I can. (smile).
DeleteI watch the news an bemoan how bad things are, but I rarely participate, and I often don't care because I'm ambivalent, or because I don't think a story is worth my time, or because it's on the other side of the world. I try to be nice close to home, that mostly being the extent of my contribution.
ReplyDeleteI truly understand!
DeleteI'm a citizen but I don't celebrate everything on the calendar. There's too many. I participate in the ones I feel I should participate in.
ReplyDeleteHope your year has started off good. :)
I see that. We contribute to our happiness by making decisions best for us, individually.
