Celebrate the Small Things - Warmth

This week I'm celebrating warmth.

1- Warmth - the kind I feel when fellow writers-boggers, crafters-artists, music-movie-buffs, d-i-y-ers, or foodies, come to visit and also choose to leave a comment. They don't have to but isn't it nice when they take a moment to do so? We all know that comments are optional.

2- Warmth - the kind I need in this season of cold weather. I flip a switch and the heat is on. Some are so less     fortunate. Our utility company has a program where I can "share the warmth."

3- Warmth - the kind I admire from people I meet at the stores and shops I visit. That cashier may be having a lousy day. Maybe the man at the dry cleaners just lost a son to cancer. A smile can be the beginning of warmth shared between two people. I'm glad I have the ability to return their smile. :)

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is follow the link and put your name on the Mr.Linky list, and then be sure to post every Friday about something you're grateful  for that week.  It can be about writing or family or school or general life.  This is the funnest and easiest blog hop ever!

  1. Hope you're not snowed in up in your part of USA.
Yep, that is what I always say to myself when I stumble upon a grumpy cashier, or a rude customer in a shop or a vicious driver... maybe they're having a really bad day, maybe their spouse left them, maybe they're ill, maybe somebody died, maybe they're just lonely... you never know.... not that some of them do not deserve a nice kick in sensitive parts lol :)

    1. Hi Dezmond. Cold and bright sunshine here. I do feel for the ones dealing with a big snowfall. We're not even into winter yet. Midwest and North have already been it hard.

"A nice kick in sensitive parts." That's funny. Hope you have great weekend!

  2. What warms me is my first grandson's smile. He's now 4 and when he sees me he's always excited because he has so much to tell me. We laugh and play and he warms my heart.

    1. Ah Mike, lucky you, that's the best kind of warmth. I'm sure you're all ears and whatever he needs/wants you to be. That is so sweet. There's nothing like 4 year old chatter.
I hope you get to see him this weekend!

  3. I object to being called a bogger LOL. I think your attitude is great, wish I could be so unselfish. It is wonderful how easily we can get warm. As our electricity is part of our rent, I don't know if our hydro (that'w what they call electric companies here) does a share the warmth type of programme or not.

    1. Hi Jo - just one of those weeks I felt like getting the L out!! That's funny. I spend all my time trying to get those crazy links in right... No I don't think you're a bogger!!

You might google it...if it's an area you're interested in supporting. There are so many outlets available here to help or donate items. Here, with utilities it's usually a one time donation... unless you choose to give again later.

I think my original motive was to have more space. So I gathered the sweat shirts and blankets and passed them on to places where they're given away and not sold. Then last year's heat bill was a shocker and I couldn't imagine how single parents with children were staying warm. I don't know that I thought to be unselfish - which I don't believe you are either. I just wanted to feel like a contributing adult to sad hurting society.

Thank you for all your kindnesses, Jo. :)

  6. Warmth is a great thing to celebrate! Although with summer warming up here, I may be cursing it before too long.

    1. Hi Kate. If it's warming where you are then I have no idea where you are? LOL I understand what you're saying about summer.
I am truly hoping things turn in a direction you'd like. Have a very good weekend!

  7. You know, I was mulling over what you said about warmth, and it's true: if someone is good to you, generous, kindly, somehow 'clicks' and makes it clear that he sees YOU and respects and likes YOU, it really is a warm feeling in so many ways, physically and mentally. ...Not sure why I get choked up at that sensation, but it is real. thanks you for a lovely post!

    1. Diana, you are certainly welcome. I think of your post - receiving the bouquet. Someone was touched by your work and acknowledged you with a gift. Their way of returning a bit of the warmth they gained. We never know how each individual writing will touch someone's life.

Your comment touches mine. Thank you so much and I hope the weekend is kind to you.

  9. These are lovely celebrations. I have a friend who, when someone is rude to her, says: 'Maybe her feet hurt today.' We none of us knows what going on in another's head.
