The most fascinating thing to me is the new transportation.
"Introduction of a new "Javelin" high-speed rail service, using the Hitachi Corporation's "bullet" trains. The platforms at Stratford International station (which are at a height designed for Eurostar trains) will be temporarily raised to accommodate the Javelin trains. According to network rail an additional 4,000 train services will run during the Games, with train operators putting on longer trains during the day." (UK Olympic web site)
Quite impressive, and if one of you gets the chance to ride one, let me know how it goes; other than very fast!!(smile)
Olympic Games 27 July - 12 August ~ LONDON
Oh my and if I get the chance to ride a "Javelin", I shall let you know. Can see me now flying through the sky with a pointy thing in a very sensitive location.
ReplyDeleteTo actually get a British train to run and even on time, is a wonder in itself. Trains have been known to be cancelled due to the wrong kind of leaves or snow or rain on the tracks.
All the best to you, Dixie.
Kind wishes, Gary :)
Dear Dixie,
ReplyDeleteYes, Britain not only has talent, but very fast trains too. As Gary says above, in the good old days of British Rail, trains had been known to be cancelled due to "leaves on the track"! Ah, such fond memories!
Anyway, I'll be sure to let you know if I get the chance to ride a "Javelin".
Very Best Wishes,
David.
Gary, that's really amazing. So Britain has exceptional leaves!! Thanks for that :)
ReplyDeleteHi David. Facetious remarks are always welcome! And yes, please let me know how the ride goes!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Britain has the wrong kind of leaves for trains - at least it did have! Trains are fine but they are costly. Will let you know if we ever get on a Javelin but we rarely travel by train.
ReplyDeleteHi there this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh No Mike! So much for seeing all those "Harry Potter" films :/
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, "Ringo Starr with Thomas the Tank" :/
What's next? Policeman don't say "Pip pip old man and cheerio!" And maybe they're no longer called "Bobbies"??
Can report that Thomas The Tank Engine is alive and well, my little grandson has a t-shirt to prove it. As for Bobbies, they might well be around but we don't see them any more on their 'beat' They are species that need protecting and should be protected.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mike. My now 17 year old niece spent many an episode on the lounge watching Thomas. At the time she was only two; I'm feeling older here :/
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the Bobbies, but thanks for the report!!
