post number 500
I wondered what post number 500 would be about. Let's talk about the coming Olympics!
London is hosting the Olympics July 27- August 12, 2012. I'm so excited! Not only that but it's in the year of Queen Elizabeth's 60th jubilee. How much more excitement do I need?
Aw, yes, I love the synchronized swim teams.... every country's participants!
It's still early, for the Oylmpics, but I still needed a number 500 post, so why not?
Thanks for reading ~

Hi Dixie. I live in suburban north-east London about four miles from the Olympic Stadium. As you may imagine, the excitement here is really building up. I used to work in an office opposite the Olympic Park and two years ago we were taken on a VIP tour of the area. Security was phenomenal; we were not allowed off the bus in certain areas and had to be cleared by security and show our passports just to get on! It has been fascinating to watch the buildings go up. (See http://todiscoverice.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/2012-olympic-site.html)

Congrats on 500 posts.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that people in other countries are excited about the Olympics, I think they will be something special. But as for synchronized swimming - I'll pass on that! I don't quite get it as a sport.
Happy 500 Dixie!
ReplyDeleteAs for myself, I'm only on about 185. So this is a milestone in my eyes.
And, of course, the Olympics will be held in little, old Eng-er-land this year. Can't wait!
Very Best Wishes,
David.
Oh Bazz, I'm so grateful for the link! Lucky you, I'm envious...sounds like it was quite an experience, taking the tour. I hope you can showcase some of it. Again, lucky you! Thanks Bazza.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay if you don't quite get it as a sport... however people wanting to compete, to stand on their heads underwater, might see differently!
I know the Olympic Committee often reviews and thinks to eliminate it. I hope it stays... sport or no... it's fun to watch!
My neighborhood is gearing up... neighbors from different countries are so much fun. We're all excited!!
Thanks David.
ReplyDeleteThough some of my posts are simply photos with a title, I'm humbled by your comment; whereas your 185 have been articles of depth.
I bet you can't wait. So glad others are feeling the love... 2012 Olympics!! Good luck to "Eng-er-land".
Hey Dixie,
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful to know that you have reached blog 500. I believe a celebration of Olympic proportions is in order :)
And synchronised swimming. I've been practising for the event by sticking a clothing peg on my nose.
Congrats to you, my friend.
In kindness, Gary
Thanks Gary! Just bring on the cake and ice cream. There's a sport I could adore.
ReplyDeleteNose peg? Only you!!
There's no hockey in the summer Olympics, so I'm wondering, what's your fave sport? See you later :)
Aha, well actually they play 'grass' hockey at the Summer Olympics and that's always trippy to watch :)
ReplyDeleteMy fave sport is water polo as opposed to polo they play on a great big field with a bunch of horses.
In water polo, the players ride around on seahorses! :)
I will be watching football at the Olympics aka soccer.
See ya later eh.....
Gary!
