Olympic goal runs flat

Japaneese Olympic hopeful, Awgi, has failed to meet the required qualifications.

Distressed and dejected, Awgi went for a walk in the rain. Seems he was unaware that he was constructed from cardboard. When his legs began to melt, he stepped into the road to return to the stadium, whereupon he was smashed flat by a passing truck.

The driver was questioned and released, it determined that after all, he only hit a box.

Awgi was mailed to his hometown with a large red stamp across his head stating: "2016 - better cardboard, better ingredients, Papa Yan's."

  1. Ah Dixie,
Well, you certainly thought outside the box in this posting :)
Hope your surgery turned out okay.

  2. Hi Dixie, I think he met a similar fate to that other Japanese runner, Ono Notme. He got boxed-in during the 5000 metres. Apparently they build their athletes out of cardboard in case of earthquakes.

  5. As the Japanese athlete Morihei Ueshiba said, "Failure is the key to success; each mistake teaches us something." So there is hope for Awgi yet!

The Olympics has been on my mind today as the Olympic flame landed in the UK yesterday. I saw it today as runners are carrying it all over the country starting off from where I live in Cornwall. Not long now!

  7. Dixie,

You should write material for advertisement on billboards and TV. I'll be sure to give Papa Yan your name. :)

Funny story about that boxy fella, Dixie. I hope you're recovering from your surgery, okay. Take care.

  8. Kelly, thanks for getting the joke!
Doing great, though doing little. Mostly catching up all the nap-time opportunities I missed this past winter, LOL.
