Winter's Farm
Winters’ farm felt so warm
Blanketed in snow
How I longed to see its charm
Return to long ago
As in dreams children live
My own life was found
Carried by a wish to give
Yet lost when I fell down
Travel made my heart light
Place to place I went
Looking for my winter’s farm
With lovely seasons spent
Through older, wiser eyes
I let the farm take flight
In visions of my night time
My blanket stayed in sight
It kept me safe and warm
It promised me a dream
In beauty’s snowbound storm
The farm I loved just beamed

Hi Dixie;
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to go there. Look out there may be a snowball with you name on it. I love just standing quietly and listening to the snow and the trees. I feel very close to the universe at that time. Talk to you soon.
Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteI've a friend with Alzheimer's. Her expression of 'winter's farm' stuck in my mind. With my own issues it was tough enough listening, to her describe childhood and late life, as if they were 'one'...and yet I did walk in her dream for a moment. I saw that farm, I felt that blanket; which turned out to be a good thing. I returned a week later and she did not know who I was.
So when you make snowballs, mark one for "Pauline", please.
Dear Dixie,
ReplyDeleteI really like the picture. It reminds me of some of the scenes around here lately.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all immerse ourselves in the beauty that is all around.
I shall make a snowball for 'Pauline'.
With peace and respect, Gary x
I want to sit by the fire, with hot coffee.

Hi Gary,
ReplyDeleteWe keep getting promises of snow but so far, no show. Still I have enjoyed the look of winter in a nearby forest.
It's very touching that you'd make a special snowball for my friend. I wish I could tell her and she'd understand.
Bless you,
Dixie x
Hi LR,
ReplyDeleteI'd love that too. Bring the wagon:)
Dear Dixie,
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely poem from you with some great imagery.
And hoping that you and your friend are as well as can be.
Yours with Very Best Wishes,
David.
Dear David,
ReplyDeleteThank you. I like to play with poetry. Whether or not it's any good, doesn't matter, as it usually helps me unload a feeling or two. That's really all I'm doing.
I wanted everyone to 'feel' that snow, the warmth, the crispness in the air. Feel the silence of another's dream, that used to exist; tweak and make it your own.
My best wishes to you,
Dixie
