Who's Complaining?

It's been so cold here this week. No snow, for which I'm thankful because so many are suffering under a deep blanket of white. Some have been visited with ice on top of it, or beforehand. So my complaint is not really about weather. As many know, because I have complained about having a pulled muscle in my leg, this has been an immobile type week. The cold has been there but I've been missing it, staying inside, nursing said muscle.

Today I felt pretty decent and thought to make a quick trip to the store. Alas, I'm out of peanut butter! As many of you know I do like to bake peanut butter cookies. This wonderful activity heats up the home front, as well as heat up every one's tummies! But... the van sits there and refuses to start. The battery has succumbed to the cold. Oh blast! No, not completely, but enough to make you say all the four letter words you promised in that "New Year's Resolution of 2010" not to use. Well, I'll start over with that in 2016.(smile)

The son of a friend arrived to rescue me! Yes, pulled up on his little scooter, plugged in a battery charger, maneuvered all the cords so the kitchen door completely shuts, and promptly left. I felt as if I'd witnessed a super hero... "get it, got it, good... done!" He advised he'll return shortly to inspect the charge and crank my van. I believe he will. So maybe I have no complaint after all.

I hope you have no complaints, today, either. But just in case... and since I'm not mobile in any fashion... I'll gladly listen. Go ahead... your turn.

  1. you have a van? :) On the bright side maybe the muscle gets some superpowers during the recovery, you never know.... not that we're that optimistic....

    1. Hi Dezz. That's my van and house. Big windows - no window seat - yet!
David, my superhero returned in about an hour - very little charge needed! It just sat all week in the cold and wind without me cranking it. Cranked up twice for him... Hooray for David...maybe I should charge me up!!

I love being optimistic... it's a much more pleasant state of mind, for me... the only thing I want to be 'cranky' is that van! I'm glad you stopped by. If you have no complaints... I'll go check out my band blog now. (smile)

  2. Frustration! I want to bake some banana bread, but have no walnuts. Can't have banana bread without walnuts, and hubby has the car, so I can't go to the store. Oh well, they will make it for another day! Good luck with the battery.

  3. I had a car disaster yesterday too. Don't ask me "how," but after work I managed to lock my purse and the car keys inside my running car while I was outside it stripping ice off my windshield wipers. I had to phone My Rare One to drive all the way over, take me home to get my spare car key and then drive me back to my car. It sat there running for an hour. Luckily I had 3/4 of a tank of gas in it. So My Rare One was my saviour heroine yesterday and I took her out for a nice Italian meal as thanks.

    1. Oh, that sounds terrible. And you're out in the cold the whole time. I would have been nuts, or at least, more nuts than I already am.(smile)

You might think to give her a spare key...save the ride home and back. Great thought now, huh? However a nice Italian meal says, thank you in a most profound way.(aww). Next time, call me!

  4. Oh, no! I'm sorry your van's battery died. That was very nice of your friend's son to help you out. I hope everything is good now with your van.

Thanks for visiting my blog for Stephanie's interview! :)

    1. Hi Chrys. It was so interesting hearing how others got started blogging or writing. I love the sharing. You're very welcome.(smile)

The battery seems good now. I have a yard sale tomorrow... so the van will be needed to transport things to the sale. (missed out today). David I think, is 20 years old, and mechanically inclined. In fact, I suspect my van is almost his age.(smile)

      Thank you for visiting me.

  5. Hopefully that van is all charged and ready to go now. Ugg to the being immobile too, that sucks at every zoo. I have no complaints today at my bay

    1. Hi Linda. No, I had a ham in the oven and hate for the cookies to smell like ham. Baking ceremonies shall commence after 4 pm Sunday. :))

  7. 'Alls well that ends well' as my mum used to say. But sorry about that leg muscle - we don't always appreciate our legs and feet - they do a good job. My wife had a bad knee this week and her language wasn't too sweet! OK now though. Hope you are as well.

  8. I pulled my ham string on NY Day so I do know what you have been going through. Very painful. It's still not right back to normal.

    1. Jo, I would think your injury worse than mine. I thought I'd have more progress in the last week, but not so. You be careful bowling. The team needs you!! Thank you for visiting. (smile).
