I have your smile!

In Autumn I see you everywhere -
stepping through leaves of red and gold -
How many times have we walked this place -
this home we shared - how many days
since you've been gone?

The day you gave birth to me
is two weeks away -
I am often amazed that I am here
and not you - without you - yet -
In Autumn I see you everywhere.

It makes me smile -
you always made me smile -
I look in the mirror
and I can smile -
I have your smile!

    1. Hi Dezmond. Yes. Just some thoughts that floated through my mind, late Friday afternoon as I raked leaves. I inherited my parents home - lots of lovely memories with every season, but Autumn was her favorite. I hear her laughter with every crunch of a leaf! Thank you for your visit - have a great weekend, my friend.

  3. Comfort food (i.e. roast below :) and a lovely poem honoring your mother. Very nice. It is wonderful you could accept your parent's gift of the home. So many of us live too far away or have jobs preventing that.

    1. Hi Sharon! I just left your blog-home - what a sweet post! I understand what you're saying about living too far away... providence led me back 16 years before the first parent passed. I had no idea a path was being created before me... until the first time I stepped on that path... and loved it! Thank you for your kindness and joining my journey!
