What are your thoughts?

I opened an email to find a cutesy little flower with bears adorning the edges. Ah, life without “E” cards, where would we be? Yet, there was an element of truth that the message could be right:

"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!"

Most of my twenties were spent care-free. Of course the occasional marriage did upset a few things. My thirties were drugged and not much can be remembered. My forties started off right but hit a snag when I had a mental health melt-down. Today and I don’t feel so inclined to share where I’m at, but everyone I know may be fighting some kind of battle. So it’s possible that everyone I “meet” is too. My own history shows I wasn’t exactly focusing on anyone else having a battle. Now I feel a bit wiser, possibly more aware of my surroundings.

What are your thoughts?

  1. such a wonderful sentence.
I always try to be kind to people I meet.

It says a lot about a man's character in the way he treats those who he needn't treat well.

sp3 memorable dialogue which stayed with me:

"what ever comes our way, what ever battle we have raging inside us we always have a choice."

  3. I always try to demonstrate kindness. If I can make someone smile, someone laugh, to feel better about themselves, then my mission is accomplished.
In the hearts of mankind there may been an anquish we do not understand. If for one moment I can make someone forget their anguish, then I have managed to achieve a positive outcome. I try to make the world a better place.
With my focus on other people, I have discovered a determined resilience deep within me. A resilience that tells me that my life will become that litte bit more positive. Help each other, we help ourselves.

Your kindness is unmatched by anyone I know. Your compassion and generousity have helped me gain more of my own life back. I have enjoyed great moments of laughter with you and have smiled until my face hurt.
I do so hope that focusing on others brings you more positive vibes that you can hold. No one deserves it more.
    In peace and warm wishes.

  5. Western culture conditions us to wear a mask, preventing others from seeing what lies beneath our protective shell.

Each of us is a blend of suffering and joy leaving us only the choice of which to show.

To deny suffering is to deny the reality of life's struggle. To deny joy is to reject the endless possibilities of life's greatness.

As the Dali Llama best stated, "If you see yourself in your enemy, you cannot feel hatred toward him".

    Wonderful Post!

    Roger,
Interestingly I have a post just placed that deals with "depth of joy versus depth of sorrow". See, "The last time is just a long time ago."
    Thank you for your comment!
