a little help... please!

"Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends..."

The on-going saga of my friend who has given up her diet is puzzling. She hadn't lost any weight in over three months, so she gave up her New Year's Diet Resolution? She now claims she has lost 4 pounds!! She says her, "eat a special dessert once a week," is the key to her success. Could that be true?

The first week she made chocolate cake.
The second week she made coconut pies.

We are now into the third week and there's a dilemma! She can't decide between Pecan pie or hot fudge sundaes? I'm at a loss, because I like both equally well. Maybe... if she tops the pie with vanilla ice cream... slathered in chocolate? You see? I simply cannot help her choose. Would someone help us?

  1. I haven't ever tried any of those two... we don't have pecans and I'm not entirely sure what Sundae is... but I think I'd like fudge better because I prefer creamy things :)

  2. A sundae typically consists of one or more scoops of ice cream topped with sauce or syrup, and in some cases other toppings including sprinkles, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, or other fruits (e.g., bananas and pineapple in a banana split.). >Her hot fudge sundae uses a nut brownie cake on the bottom, and she heats the hot fudge topping. She could have used chocolate cake.

    > have you had a banana split? That's a sundae with nuts and different toppings.

You've never had pecan pie? Poor baby!
So basically, we need to invite you? (smile)

  4. I'm with you on the combo idea. Then again, I've been on a "special diet" all my life. Wish you and your friend lived nearby. We'd share so much fun and sweet diet items.

    1. Yeah! That's what I'm talking about: combos, living nearby, sweet diet items. It doesn't get any better!!

Wait - do you the recipe for Irish cream?

  5. I find that a cookie a day helps keep the pounds away. If I eat one cookie, then I won't eat a dozen cookies--sometimes.

    1. I do that on Monday through Wednesday, but double up on Thursday through Saturday. Well - not Saturday because of this dessert thing.

I must say my coffee making has improved, (smile).

    1. That's wonderful! You really post some excellent recipes too.

I try not to go over three pounds my current weight. The doctor doesn't like me being this small, but it works for me and my Fibro better.

  7. Personally I'd go for the hot fudge sundae. I find pecan pie kind of cloying after the first couple of bites.

    1. That's my choice. We did have pie last week, after all, right?!
'Cloying' - excellent word choice - you're so right.

So it seems we have three for the hot fudge sundae. Yipee!

  8. Hot fudge sundae, for sure! I only eat pecan pie at Thanksgiving, and even then, I pick the pecans out and just eat the jelly of the pie. :)

    1. I've got a nice pot of vegetable soup going. We didn't get all of the predicted the rain, or the cold temperatures - oh well, good thing I love soup.

      Sweets this Saturday!
