Winter's child

Winter's child goes out to play
breathes in deep the crisp air; stay!
Snowy drifts hide the playful steps
of winter's child with no regrets.

Many birds will greet with song
while winter's child just tags along.
Catching flakes upon her tongue
lovely child has just begun.

Trekking through the trees so green
life seems small; an endless seam.
Dance and play; don't miss a thing.
Winter's child is here 'til spring.

  1. Dear Dixie,
A lovely poem. You seem to be in a very festive mood, so might I just say that I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
    Very Best Wishes,

  2. Sorry to hear about your divorce and the problem going on in your life, but no matter how bad things get in the world around you, stay strong. You have a beautiful spirit, full of life that I see reflected in your poems and beautiful photos.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  3. Hi Dixie,
And the winter's child sings and plays in your heart :)
    Beautiful poem. Beautiful imagery.
Dear friend, I send you peaceful and positive wishes.
    With respect, Gary

  4. Hi David.

Lately we've had what I call, "The smell of Christmas" in the air. I find myself praying for snow. Last year it snowed on Christmas Day... what a treat!

Thank you, dear blogging pal, for keeping up with my wordiness :)

I send good thoughts for your Christmas and New Year's too,

  5. Hi Paul.
Right now I have that "in the hollow of His hand feeling." Like God has enveloped me, and peace is within and without.
I appreciate your kindness. Good Christmas and New Year's to you.

  6. Hi Gary!
I hope you're doing well. How soon before we get the first book from Penny, the internet star? You might call it, "Pawsitive Arfimations". LOL.

Thank you for being so kind. Happy Boxing Day!

  7. What a pawsitively pawesome idea for her book.
No doubt, Penny being a self-pawblisher, will take your title into consideration :)
Happy Boxing Day Eve, to you :)

  8. Hi Dixie!
Oh here is another beautiful winter poem to put on my door!
I will dress up my classroom after Christmas with a sweet winter scene and all the imagery here in your poem, "Winter's Child."

Everyone loved your winter poem last year!
Thank you for the wonderful inspirations!
~Have a Merry Weekend and a sweet week leading up to Christmas.
    Blessings always,

  9. Gary,
You're too funny. Oh by the way, do the Gnomes do Boxing Day?
    Thanks again, Dixie

  10. Maria,
I am honored to share the winter season with you and the students. Be sure and take a photo to share!

    Good Christmas, my friend.
    Love, Dixie

  11. Indeed, the Gnomes do 'Boxing Day' and 'All-Star Wrestling Day' :)
    Okay, I tried......

  12. Funny, Gary. We always have a huge wrestling event on Christmas day; how strange. Excuse me, must go read about the Gnomes! :)

Thank you for visiting me. Want to add your thoughts?
