The warmth




As a child this scene was so familiar. A glowing fireplace shared with the season of Christmas. How often I would lie in front of it and reflect on my world. It was with great delight that I stayed right there, very still, and absorbed the warmth.

    Oh, Dixie, you bring back the memories with this post. I remember how me and my two brothers would beg Mom to let us sleep beside the Christmas tree. Of course, she'd say yes, and we'd unroll our sleeping bags with growing excitement. The lights were so beautiful, quite hypnotizing to a young child. We never did 'catch' Santa delivering his presents, but we were nonetheless caught up in the 'magic' of Christmas.

    For me, it's not the single day of Christmas that I'm focused on. Instead it's the building up, or the journey through it.
