Butterfly bushes, and an affirmation for you ~

I love my Butterfly bushes! The two in my yard promise a lovely season of butterflies. This photo is from last year, but the purple color looks even better this year. What seems a very slight scent to me must seem heavenly to the butterflies. Though I'm still feeling weak from loss of energy, the picnic table I visit every morning allows me to view beauty up close.

Having begun a strict regimen of vitamins and supplements, I hope to be back to regular posting soon. I appreciate your patience, and comments!

Today, I'd like to share this week's affirmation. It comes from a deck of 52 cards in a set by Melody Beattie. Her collection is called, "The Language of Letting Go." Maybe you've heard of her?

"Today, I will cherish those relationships where there is harmony and honesty." ~ Melody Beattie

  1. I really want to get butterfly bushes because a lot of butterflies fly around my house and I want to give them a nice treat. :)

    1. Chrys, I really enjoy mine. I never knew there were so many different colored butterflies. Definitely plant the purple - they appear to like the 'flavor' better than my white bush.

  6. Dixie-chicka! I hope you're feeling better soon. Chronic tiredness is no fun. It's funny somewhere between yesterday and this morning you came to mind. I had intended to hop over to your blog, but I got busy preparing posts, then a few odd chores, and I was just about to hop onto my elliptical machine when I noticed your visit. That's when I decided not to waste another second to come see you. I love butterflies and fragrant blooms. My lilac bush didn't do so well this year, but I have spotted a few butterflies around the yard. What I've seen a lot of this summer are fireflies. They are illuminating our backyard with their flashing bellies. It's a nice show to see! I'll see you tomorrow for #BOTB...now that's bound to get you energized, right?

    1. Hey Cathy! 'Elliptical machine' sounds like my life lately - I think I'm on round three! I love fireflies but haven't had any. I think the cell phone towers chased them away a couple of years ago! Oh, I really want a lilac bush - bet it smells great too.

Yes, I'm doing BOTB. It's about the only blog I have future posts ready to go. I know we'll have a good time no matter what. Thanks for thinking of me, (smile).

  7. Glad you are getting better anyway Dixie. I assume that is a Buddlea (sp) which I know the butterflies love. Interesting they prefer the purple to the white. Wonder if it's the colour or the smell.

  8. Hi Dixie,

A positive affirmation from your good self. I'm most pleased that you are using positive resources that are conducive to your own physical and mental health well being.

A wondrous photo and the photo, a representation of the hope you sense within the garden, an oasis of nature's balance.

    Take care, my friend.

    Gary :)

  11. I love butterfly bushes. The drought killed mine and then when we got deluged with rain for the first spring in years, everything is blooming like crazy. Sure do miss that butterfly bush.

  12. Glad you're starting to feel stronger. And oh yes, I've heard of Melody Beattie. I read a couple of her books on codependency many years ago. Full of insights and good common sense. Those books helped me a lot!

  13. I like the affirmation, but what do we do with the relationships where there is honesty and disharmony? :P

  16. Is that milk thistle? It seems like I recall reading that planting milk thistle will bring the butterflies, and we all should do what we can to help the butterfly population (apparently their sources of "nutrition" are becoming more scarce). Anyway, I want more butterflies in my yard.

    I love that affirmation!
