Celebrate the Small Things

I love this blog hop!

Each Friday, we post what we're celebrating - those small achievements for our week!  It can be about writing, family, school or general life.  Then we hop around other blogs, offering congratulations to other people. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is put your name on the linky list on Lexa's Cain's Blog.

Thank you to our co-hosts:

What am I celebrating?

1 - My home town had an ice storm, but when I look at what others are experiencing, I feel less like complaining.  Even though there is ice still on the ground, streets are clear. Life is manageable.

2 - Getting back to my exercise routine, since my leg is so much better.

3 - On my street, the city cleared all tree limbs that crossed power lines. I don't know how those men stood the cold, but I'm grateful.

I hope everyone has a fun celebration day! Thank you for hopping over here.  I'll hop over to see you (smile).  And now ~  the linky vehicle we travel on... hop forth and celebrate!

  4. I'm celebrating not yelling at the washing machine repair guy. Not his fault GE did not deliver a working product.

Can I have some snow please?

    1. Donna, that's an excellent celebration! We still don't have any snow, but the ice is still on the ground. GrandMother used to say, "If it stays on the ground three days, there'll be more." I'm watching!

  5. I'm so glad your leg is feeling better, and I'm sure exercising will help even more. I love snow -- downed power lines, not so much. I'm happy that your city weathered the storm okay. Have a wonderful weekend! :)

    1. Lexa, I really was missing my walks until it got to -9 degrees C. but it hasn't stopped my return to crunchies.

  7. Glad to hear you're leg is mending. Ice Storms are brutal. I'm living in the tundra. Right now it's 10 below. Looking forward to a warm up this weekend, might hit 30.

    1. Cathrina - I would love to see 30. I cannot imagine how people are surviving in some places. I don't think it's been like this, here since 1992.

Thank you, and stay warm! (smile).

  8. In your neck of the woods having the the streets cleared and the limbs off the power lines is crucial. I'd be very appreciative as well, Dixie.

    1. Linda Kay, it was amazing. They had seven trucks coordinating both sides of the street, and into the yards. They cleared all debris. I've never known it to happen in my "neck of the woods." Maybe we won the tree lotto! (smile).

I'll be by to see what you're celebrating!

  10. It's great to hear that your leg is well enough for exercise! And, having the streets clear is nice - it's amazing how people get out there and get that work done in the cold.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Dixie!

    1. Tyrean - they were troopers. Along the edge of the road stood coolers. Each man had their own. In my bottom driveway are some logs, leftover from a tree I had cut down. They took a break and were sitting on the logs. I offered coffee, but they had their own.

I hope your weekend is wonderful too! (smile)

  11. The weather here in L.A. has been warm and beautiful. I guess I should be thankful, but in a way I feel like I'm kind of missing out not being able to experience all that snow, ice, and cold. Well, anyway, we all have plenty to be thankful for wherever we are.

    1. Lee, if you get too lonesome for cold weather, bring the Mrs. and stay at dc~bed and breakfast. Guaranteed to make you want to return home (smile).

    2. I'll keep that in mind. Actually I'm fine with the weather here. My wife seems to think that cold weather would be fun, but I think she'd change her mind if she had to go to work in it.

    3. Well, Lee, the thing is - when we get snow, we don't drive in it. We stay home. The city doesn't have the equipment; of course we don't get the weather to justify the expense.

Besides, the hill in front of my home becomes the children's playground. You couldn't leave anyway. You might join them. It's a lot of fun.(smile).

  13. We're supposed to get more snow tonight. I don't mind it a whole lot, like you say- there are plenty of people in worse straights than I am. I have a warm house, bread, and milk...what more can I need?

Three cheers to those men and women who work in the cold to keep us in luxury.

    1. We're expecting snow showers... but it's too cold. I know this city. Also, it hasn't had that certain snow smell. (Maybe you know what I mean?)

Indeed, Elizabeth, three cheers!!! Stay warm (smile).

  14. Ice storms are nasty. We had one last year that turned my driveway into a frozen waterfall. I actually had to chop my way down across my lawn just to get to the road and the mailbox. I didn't leave my house for three days. I'll take snow any day over ice. Glad your leg is better! Happy weekend!
