a blustery day

It's a blustery day. The sun is playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. A little spot of grey and then, wham(!) a bright spot of yellow, and here comes the sun.

Leaves are swirling, dancing among the trees. Like a sky full of butterflies, they flit, flit, flit, then spiral to the ground, landing ever so softly.

Swaying trees, shaking their limbs toward me, how do you do? Bending low, sending forth a flurry of golden-red leaves to mix with the brown that have already jumped.

A slight chill but then a warm spot of sunshine on my shoulders. A whipping wind slips around me, then suddenly it's gone. I resist the urge to step inside and miss all the fun of this blustery day.

  1. The sky is bright blue (one of the things I love best about living in FL, as it stays that way most of the year)... :) I love the changing of the leaves, and you've got a great shot in this picture. I just pointed out to my mother a particularly lovely tree yesterday. It was all glorious reds and oranges.

    Don't miss the fun!

    1. Hi Robin. My backyard looks like lollipop heaven! A couple of trees have bright green ivy trailing up them. Lots of airplanes overhead - it was a good day! I had family in Orlando at one time but they've since all passed away.

Good to hear you're enjoying the beauty too.

  2. The beauty and magic of autumn all around us... and I'm just sitting here on my computer blogging. I feel like at this point if I ventured outside the sun would just instantaneously melt my pale white skin.

    1. Hi Guys. I sat looking out my studio window but the wind's siren called me out. I needed the fresh air. That and it looked amazing!
      Thank you for stopping over.
Here's a question: Do you use beer when you make your turkey?

  3. It's warm and humid here. Saturday evening Willy Dunne Wooters took me out to dinner. I was cold because the air conditioning was blowing on me. WDW let me wear his U of West Virginia sweatshirt. A woman came up to us to ask about it. She thought I was cold because I was from West Virginia and visiting Florida. I explained that I live here and just felt chilly. It's supposed to turn cold tomorrow.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. I hope it doesn't get too cold there. I like to think Florida is always the best place to relax for spell. I had an Aunt an Uncle in Goldenrod on the lake. Loved going there every summer when school ended.
Janie, I'm glad you visited me. Stay warm.

  4. we do love Autumn days! I actually love best that day when the first frost arrives and when you can smell the first snow in the air.

    1. Me too Dezmond!! It smelled like snow a couple of days back but all we got was rain. Could be that recent cold has thrown me off.

  5. It's not blustery here, it's a full out gale I think. Not a day to be out in. Had trouble getting in and out of the car as the wind was trying to slam the door. Yours sounds more like something from Winnie the Pooh.

    1. Hi Jo. You know I was outside when the words came pouring into my mind and I kept thinking, "why does a blustery day sound familiar?" So I sat down at the computer and googled ... 'blustery' day, and images of Winnie appeared. I'm going to go back and read that. Maybe my bear, Teddy, and I should write a book!!!
By all means stay inside and warm. Thanks for visiting me.

  6. Hi Dixie. Your post is almost like a poem. While reading it I could hear the lyrics of Across The Universe (even though I'm listening to Loudon Wainwright!)
The weather here has been a bit foggy which, believe it or not, is very rare in London.
