"let me out"

It's thrilling to meet an artist who can do this type of work. He simply "sees" the object "inside" of the wood. It beckons him to let it out.(wow)

The tree man will return this week to do more tree removal. Our last episode had him cutting the large, limbless trunk into eight sections. They respectfully measure between 8-12 feet each, with a diameter of 3-4 feet. This is no tiny tree!

Can he make this bench? I'll have to show him this photo and see what he says. Also I can't wait to see photos of things he's been making during the interim. Hints of specially designed pieces were clues from the last episode. I suspect he'll have the Adirondack chair completed??!(smile)

  1. A fine seat and good to see trees which have fallen turned into such art.

  4. Mike, I agree; hated thinking that tree would rot without being used for something. Next I'll see you and read about "Fern"?

  8. Michaelangelo said that he thought he was 'releasing' the things he sculpted from the marble. You can see some unfinished works where this seems to be eerily true.
I have a bird-bath in the back garden that is a pair of hands like that seat!

  9. Hey Dixie!

Wow, wouldn't that be just awesome if the dude could make a bench like the one in the photo. For just a brief moment, I thought the bench was making an obscene gesture. Can't quite put my finger on it. With that, I shall catch the next butterfly outta' here....

A peaceful rest of the weekend to you, Dixie.

    Gary :)

  10. Welcome back Bazza!

I did a single piece of sculpture once. I kept seeing a lady with her hair in braids. Once it was done, she did indeed have braids. It was fun, but not exactly my field.

Thanks, and I'll check out Michaelangelo! More soon.
