Vancouver, can you hear me?

I’m happy in the snow
It tickles as I go
My long hair in the breeze
It reaches to my knees

I’m training for my team
Vancouver is the dream
‘They’ say I’m not too old
So I’m going for the gold!

Vancouver, can you hear me?
Vancouver, I’m on my way.
Save a place on yonder mountain
I’ll be there by light of day.

My snowboard is shining
No time to be whining
As I slip and I slide
Taking gold home with pride!

Vancouver, can you hear me?
Vancouver, I’m on the way.
Save a place on yonder mountain
I’ll be there by light of day!

  1. Hi Dixie,
On behalf of the good people of Vancouver (The Evergreen Playground), I wish to thank you for this song. Realise the dream and go for the gold.
Snowy mountain dreams, your way, Gary x

  2. Dear Dixie,
If they gave out gold medals for being a lovely and understanding person, I'm sure you'd win every time.
    Until then, lucky snowboarding!
Wishing you All the Very Best,

  3. Hi Dixie;
As a Vancouverite I thank you for the song. I also want to say that I appreciate your spirit and I have always thought you were a gold medal winner. Lovely work my dear!!

  4. Hi Gary,
It's amazing what a small dog, in a small snow, can conjure up in my mind.
You're welcome for the song, but hang on; rumour has it, 'Charlie" is building a bobsled!! Woohoo!!

  5. Thanks, David. Here's 'gold' for tolerating my 'off the chain' remarks! :)

  6. Hi Heather.
Well done Canada, for being the first nation, providing athletes opportunty to view the opening of the Olympics! Great wisdom there.
I found it incredibly welcoming, charming, and peaceful; just like you!!

  7. Dixie,

Vancouver would give you a standing ovation for this song! Probably a gold medal, as well.(smile)

Loved the picture, loved the song, and definitely I loved your generosity of spirit, my friend...

    Blessings to you,

  8. Hi Mattie,
Then again, they might give me a sack of "Gold Medal" (flour). LOL

Thank you for your comments; I really enjoyed your new poem. Thank you for visiting; a wonderful surprise!

    Blessings to you, my friend.
