Happiness, measured in smiles

“Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad, is a full minute of
happiness you'll never get back”.

A friend emailed the above quote, and as I read it, I began to add up the days’ minutes I had already lost. Wow; the change needs to continue.

I need to continue reaching inside of myself to bring the happiness that exists to the top. I want to stop counting on others to give me what I truly can give myself. Sure, many have experiences that may have worked for them, and that’s welcomed. This is something I want to do for me. I have lots of things to be happy about. My blog has not always been sad sounding, and just for today, I want to go back to the times that gave me joy; bring them forward in time and prioritize a new existence.

I’d like to try on smiles for miles. That’s ‘the road less-traveled’ that I want.

^ Thats how i feel to, why should we base our emotions on others, you have to learn to love yourself before you can learn to love others right...

    Anyway keep smiling, tc

  2. Hi MM&I:
    Thank you for commenting.
I'm going to be moving and I so want to be able to do the things I once did on my own.
Fibro has had a big negative influence and it's time to take back my life from it, as much as possible.
I have new found love for myself and for others... yet, I've come to the peaceful solution that I shall live alone, and enjoy it.
    You smile-on too.

  4. Hello Gary,
I am able to see the past negatives as offering lessons I didn't want to see then. The path wound around a few trees and I fell off of it!
Today is a new story all together. I'm very glad you're a part of it.
I yanked out the odometer so I wouldn't obssess over the smile count! :)

  5. DC: "I am able to see the past negatives as offering lessons I didn't want to see then." Well done on this big step - it's taken a while for me to see this, but by rewording, so-called failures can be seen for what they really are - learning opportunities or as part of the road to success, making us wiser along the way, wishing miles of smiles with your move, love Julie xx

  6. Dixie, a smile can carry you anywhere your heart desires. I really love the thought, 'smiles for miles'. On the road 'less-travelled'...remember to tuck those warm smiles inside your suitcase.(smile)

I think your pictures are wonderfully displayed...and your thoughts are priceless, my friend.

    Blessings to you,
    Mattie

  7. Hi Dixie,

Your willingness to share your journey has been a wonderful sense of comfort to me. While it can be said that we never get back the moments we spend in negative emotion, it does not mean that these times were wasted.

Our negative experience can be the greatest learning tool we have. Without them, we could never appreciate the good things in life. All that matters is that we strive to give each moment the attention it deserves and move ourselves out of the past.

I have to remind myself of this every day. I have not had the extra energy to write lately and have to remember that it is neither good or bad, it just is.

    Namaste,
    Roger

  9. Dear Mattie,

I've collected a great many smiles given by friends here. That, more than anything, has kept me looking for answers that work for me.
My own faith has taught me that I will know by the fruit of their spirit... of such is your smile and presence here.

    Thank you,
    Dixie

    Hi Roger,

Your comment would make a lovely blog. By changing the pronouns, you write to us, all.

I think we may have the same journey but many varieties of left turns. As in, 'left the path', but we'll be back!

    Thank you,
    Dixie
